Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Easy Citizen is an independent educational app created to support preparation for the U.S. naturalization interview process. It references materials based on publicly available information from official USCIS resources.

Easy Citizen is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or any other government agency.

2. Summary

Everything you type or say in the App stays on your device. The App does not ask for your name, email address or any account, and the developer never sees your study content.

The App sends usage statistics to Google Analytics, such as which screens are opened and how many quizzes are completed, so the developer can see how the App is used and improve it. On Android, the App also uses your device’s advertising ID to measure whether our Google Ads campaigns lead to installs and app usage. None of this data includes your name, email address or anything you type or say in the App, and it is described in detail below.

3. What you enter in the App

Anything you enter in the App — typed answers, your ZIP code, quiz progress and statistics — is processed and stored on your device. The developer does not receive it, store it, or have access to it, and none of it is included in the analytics data described below.

Your ZIP code is matched against a lookup table shipped inside the App to find your representatives. It is not sent anywhere.

4. Speaking practice

When you answer out loud, the App passes your speech to the speech recognition service built into your device (provided by Apple or Google, depending on your phone). Depending on your device settings, that service may process the audio on the device or on the platform’s servers under its own privacy policy.

The App receives only the resulting text, compares it to the accepted answers, and discards it. Recordings and recognized text are never sent to the developer, never stored, and never sent to Google Analytics.

5. Usage analytics (Google Analytics)

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google LLC, to collect statistics about how the App is used. This helps the developer understand which features are useful, find crashes and bugs, and decide what to improve.

Analytics collects events about your use of the App, for example that a screen was opened, a quiz was started or finished, a study mode was chosen, or a subscription screen was shown. Each event may include technical details such as your device model, operating system and version, App version, device language, screen size, approximate region derived from your IP address, and the time of the event.

Analytics assigns a random identifier to your installation of the App so that events from the same installation can be counted together. This identifier is not your name, email address, phone number or device serial number, and the developer cannot use it to identify you. It is reset if you delete and reinstall the App. The App does not send Google your typed answers, your spoken answers, your ZIP code, your quiz results or anything else you enter.

Analytics data is transmitted to and processed on Google’s servers, which may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Google processes this data on the developer’s behalf under Google’s terms and privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and the Firebase data processing terms (firebase.google.com/support/privacy). The developer does not sell analytics data and does not use it to show you ads or to build an advertising profile of you.

6. Advertising measurement (Android only)

On Android, the App allows Google Analytics for Firebase to collect your device’s advertising ID (Google Advertising ID) and to share a limited set of app events with Google Ads: the first app open, starting a practice session, and starting or completing a subscription purchase. Google uses this to attribute installs and in-app activity to the developer’s own Google Ads campaigns and to optimize those campaigns.

Ad personalization and remarketing are disabled, the App shows no ads, and this data is not shared with other advertising networks. The iOS App does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not share events with Google Ads.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on the device). If you delete it, the App can no longer access it.

7. Data retention and your choices

Analytics data is kept by Google for a limited period, after which event-level data is deleted and only aggregate statistics remain. Because the data is not linked to your identity, the developer cannot look up or export the events belonging to a specific person.

Deleting the App from your device removes the analytics identifier and stops all collection. On iOS you can also limit analytics collection through the device’s privacy settings, and on Android through the advertising and usage settings of your device, including resetting or deleting the advertising ID described in the Advertising measurement section.

Your study content never leaves your device, so deleting the App also permanently deletes it.

8. No accounts and no server storage of your content

The developer operates no account system and no user database. There is nothing to sign into, and no study content of yours is kept on any server. The only data the App transmits off your device is the analytics and advertising measurement data described above, the speech passed to your device’s recognition service, and the purchase information handled by the app stores.

9. Subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, not by the developer. Those stores handle your payment details and share only whether your subscription is active.

The developer never sees your card, billing address, or store account credentials. Analytics may record that a subscription screen was viewed or that a purchase was completed, but not your payment details or store account.

10. This website

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits, page views, referral sources and page performance. These reports include information such as the pages visited, referring websites, country, browser and device type. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage to track visitors and does not fingerprint individuals. We use these statistics to improve the website, not for advertising or to build personal profiles.

Cloudflare automatically adds the analytics script to eligible page responses. Our current configuration excludes visitors in the European Union from this browser-based analytics collection.

There is no sign-up, no login and no contact form. Google Analytics 4 loads by default on public website pages to measure visits and clicks to the app stores. Cookie storage and advertising conversion measurement are enabled by default only for US visits; elsewhere Google uses a denied-storage, cookieless mode. A store_click event includes the destination platform (iOS or Android), button placement and page language. It measures interest in downloading the App, not a download or installation.

For US visits Google Analytics uses first-party analytics cookies with random browser identifiers, configured to expire after 180 days without extending their lifetime on each visit. There is no automatic analytics banner. Google Analytics is blocked when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or when the website finds an active previously saved analytics refusal. When collection is disabled, it removes accessible first-party Google analytics and advertising measurement cookies and stops future events; this does not delete events already received by Google. Default collection does not create a record claiming that you explicitly opted in. This does not change the separate Cloudflare Web Analytics configuration described above.

Google processes technical request data such as browser information, time and approximate region derived from your IP address under its privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). Events do not include names, email addresses, study content, store account details, store destinations, arbitrary URL query fields or fragments. Referrals include only the referring website’s origin, without its path or query. Measured URLs can include validated campaign labels and Google advertising click parameters (GCLID, WBRAID or GBRAID) to help measure traffic sources; an existing advertising refusal excludes those click parameters. Our code does not separately save click identifiers or send them to app stores. In the US, Google may use first-party advertising measurement cookies such as _gcl_… to preserve ad clicks across public pages, and process click identifiers and conversion data to measure and optimize our Google Ads campaigns. Outside the US, advertising storage and advertising user data are denied and Google redacts ad data in denied-storage mode. Advertising personalization is always disabled. Google Signals, User ID, enhanced conversions and remarketing are not enabled. Refusals, privacy signals, regional restrictions and blocked tags limit what can be attributed in Google Ads. To stop future website Google measurement without using a browser privacy signal, contact support at the address below; previously received events are not deleted automatically.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes technical request data such as IP address and user agent to serve pages and protect against abuse. Cloudflare may provide aggregate request statistics to the site operator.

If you arrive from an advertisement, the ad platform may add parameters to the link. Links to the app stores include labels indicating where on this site they appear. These placement labels contain no study content or account information, and the website does not forward advertising click identifiers to the app stores.

11. Third-party services

The App and website rely on the following third parties: Apple’s App Store and Google Play for distribution and billing; the speech recognition service built into your device (Apple or Google); Google Analytics for Firebase for usage statistics in the App; Google Ads for measuring the developer’s own ad campaigns (Android App and website); Google Analytics measurement on the website; and Cloudflare for website hosting, security and Web Analytics. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

The App shows no ads and uses no advertising networks. On Android, app events and the advertising ID are shared with Google Ads solely to measure and optimize the developer’s own advertising campaigns.

12. Children

Easy Citizen is intended for adults preparing for naturalization and is not directed at children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect information from children.

13. Educational purpose only

Easy Citizen is provided for educational and informational purposes only. It is not an official government product and does not provide legal advice, immigration advice, or any guarantee of interview or test outcomes.

14. Accuracy of information

The developer makes reasonable efforts to keep the content useful and current. USCIS procedures, test versions, officeholders and other government information change over time, so verify anything important through official USCIS and government sources.
